Lions Jim Pearson, Jenny Rimmer, Robert Smith and Bill Slater attended a half day training course in Latrobe on 7 June in preparation for assuming their new roles as club officers for 2009-2010. The session was well attended and the instruction and cross-feed of information and ideas was most rewarding.

65 Roses Day

65 Roses Day is the annual national awareness day for Cystic Fibrosis (CF) in Australia. This year it falls on Friday 29 May. The day was named after the folklore story of a little boy who could not pronounce his sister's condition, Cystic Fibrosis, and instead called it "65 Roses".

On 65 Roses Day the Cystic Fibrosis community will be raising much needed funds and awareness by selling 65 Roses merchandise. Lion Walter will be in Rooke Street Mall with a table full of merchandise. Come and see him!
Raised funds go towards research projects and support services for children and young adults living with CF. Help us make CF stand for Cure Found! Find out more <here>.

Andrew Tierney was inducted into our club at tonight's meeting! Congratulations!
And last Wednesday some of our members were there at the race-course collecting tickets at the gate. Notice the headless wonders and other ghosts in the below picture. I guess Photoshop doesnt automatically identify bodyparts when it stitches panoramas together!
Another perfect day at the races... and horse number 3, pictured below, won the first race of the day. Of course I had $5 on it to win, making my day there even more worth while!
Best seats in the house are right at the gates...

Cheque Presentation for Karingal
Lions Bill Slater and Jim Pearson presented Karingal with a cheque to purchase a special mobile sling weighing scale to help with the weight monitoring of the elderly.
