Lions Biggest BBQ Weekend coming to Devonport in April

Coming up again in April this year will be the Lions Biggest BBQ Weekend! This Biggest BBQ event gives Lions Clubs across the country the opportunity to support the Children`s Cancer Institute Australia in its research into the causes and prevention of, and to find a cure for, childhood cancer because Lions believe that every child deserves the chance to grow up. To date, Lions Australia has raised over $3 million for the Children’s Cancer Institute. All funds raised go towards research into the causes and cures of childhood cancer in Australia.

Lions Australia is one of Australia’s largest service organisations with almost 30,000 members and 1,400 clubs across Australia. Lions Australia raises over $20 million per annum to assist in community and health projects, and funding for Lions foundations and programs.

All connoisseurs from our club came an hour early for the meeting on the 22nd of January to listen to Mark from the Hobart based Lark Distillery. We learned about the distilling process and the had a bit of a taste. Proceeds went to Cystic Fibrosis Tasmania.

Special thanks also to Ashgrove and Anvers for kindly supplying cheese and chocolates which made this event a success!

Happy New Year!

We just had our first meeting of the year at Lion Jenny's house. Very casual, good company, good wine, good intentions, and so we built our community.

Lark Distillery Whiskey Tasting

Thursday 22 January prior to our meeting we can have a Whiskey Tasting! Call or email Lion Walter to express your interest: walter AT devonportlions DOT info.

Lark Distillery was established in 1992 to produce a premium Tasmanian Single Malt Whisky. During the days of those early barrels maturing quietly in bond storage Lark Distillery was encouraged to explore the production of other unique Tasmanian spirits from the wonderful bounty that Tasmania has to offer.

The tasting will begin at 530pm at our usual venue and will cost $15 per person of which all profits will go to Cystic Fibrosis Tasmania!

More information on the products can be found <here>
