Pictured above is Jennifer Barwick who officially became a Lion today! And pictured below is Justin Gossage who was also inducted today. It is great to see younger members joining our club.
We all feel that it is important to have a good mix of people in our Lions Club so as to represent the community that we serve, the city that we built, and the people we represent!
To make the above induction memorable we had Erica de Jong speak to us about her experience as a Youth of the Year winner of our club. She made it to the state finals in Hobart and made all of us, as well as her octarian pop very proud! To hear how much we mean to the young people involved in the Youth of the Year project made us very proud. Thank you Lion Robert for having made the 2009 quest a success for our City of Devonport Lions Club!
A reminder for the volunteers at the race-gates next Sunday, don't forget to check the local paper to find out the starting time of the first race of the day and be at the Spreyton race-course 90 minutes prior. This is what our club does to keep our member-ship costs down.
Also note to members, our change-over dinner will be held at The Gateway Hotel on Saturday 27 June, if you or your partner cannot make it please contact Gary Potter. It will be a fun night when we say goodbye to president Philip and hello to President elect Jim! We will also have distinguished guests join us in the celebration. As we will obviously not have a board meeting after this dinner we shall have that at Lion Jenny's house on 16 June at 730pm.
The Magic Show tickets will go on sale again in a few weeks time, watch out! Not sure what this is? Why not check photos of last year's event <here>.
PCYC has decided to hold a regular car-boot sale as a regular fundraiser for their organisation after their first sale last month was a success - despite the weather that prevailed! We trust it will become a regular Devonport community feature as Devonport really has nothing of its kind yet. Look for them on the Mersey foreshore the first Saturday morning of each month! And whilst we are talking about the PCYC, they are holding a Christmas in July dinner function with auction and raffle at the Axeman Hall of Fame on July 17. Tables of 10 are available for groups. If you have items suitable for fundraising please or like to get a ticket speak to Dale or call The Zone on 6423 4099.
