On 11 December the new Devonport Skate Bowl was officially opened by The Honorable Senator Nick Sherry, GM Ian McCallum presiding. Speakers included Sid Sidebottom MP, Brenton Best MHA, Alderman Maurice Hill OAM, and Lions President Jim Pearson. Refreshments were served following the ceremony. A plaque recognizing the contributions of the Federal and State Governments and the Lions Club of City of Devonport will be installed at the site.
